Recording Checklist
- Headphones or earbuds
- A dedicated microphone
- High speed, reliable internet
These items will drastically increase the quality of the recording and enhances credibility with the audience.
Headphones. We use headphones to eliminate the potential for echoes and to ensure we can hear each other well.
A dedicated microphone. This can drastically increase audio quality far beyond the quality that you can get out of a laptop’s built in microphone or from the microphone built into ear buds. A dedicated microphone can be acquired at a reasonable price.
If your headset has a built in microphone that is higher quality, that is usually sufficient. Otherwise, here is a list of high quality microphones that plug in via USB and work right out of the box without any complicated setup.
I strongly recommend this microphone: Audio Technica ATR 2100
Here are some additional options
- The most portable: https://amzn.to/29INl2V
- Great mid-range options: https://amzn.to/29KfILi or https://amzn.to/29INOCk
- Higher end options: https://amzn.to/2eU8XX2 or https://amzn.to/29w6RKv
All of these are excellent choices, and I have used different ones based on the situation.
