ANT+ for iPhone and iPad

by | Jan 15, 2016 | Support

Unfortunately, iPhones and iPads do not have the physical hardware inside to receive ANT+ signals. The only option to use with Apple devices are the Bluetooth 4.0 heart rate monitors.

Some Android devices have ANT+ receivers (but not all).

So can I use ANT+ devices with Elite HRV if I have an ANT+ dongle?

Sorry but no.

The newer iPhones like the iPhone 6 and 7 require not only the ANT+ dongle such as the Wahoo ANT+ key but also require an Apple 30-Pin to Lightning adapter (see an example image to the right). Given that the ANT+ key is around $59 and the Lightning adapter is around $19 and decent heart rate straps can be as cheap as $49.99, we decided not to invest the time/money into developing ANT+ for Apple devices and we just recommend users get a compatible Bluetooth 4.0 heart rate monitor.

If you want a heart rate monitor that is compatible with our app and also compatible with the other Garmin ANT+ products then we recommend getting the Wahoo TICKR because it has both Bluetooth and ANT+ so it can be used with your phone and your Garmin watch.
