If your heart rate monitor happens to disconnect during an HRV reading, it will automatically try to reconnect for 20 seconds.
If it fails to reconnect after 20 seconds, the reading will end and will automatically be saved. After that, you must start a new reading to continue measuring your HRV.
At this time most available wrist band monitors, watches, and finger sensors that use Pulse Oximetry, LED, or light-based sensors to detect heart rate do not accurately measure (or do not support) R-R intervals.
Do to the number of heart rate monitors available on the market, we can’t feasibly test them all.
Why discharge your heart rate monitor? Sometimes the heart rate monitor can retain some residual charge that causes interference in the signal. These steps will remove any residual charge and allow for a cleaner signal. Depending on the monitor, this may have to be done every once in a while.
